Genesis Valvodinos
Student Success
Congratulations to Genesis Valvodinos on receiving the 2018 ALA (Association of Licensed Architects) student of the year award. Genesis graduated from Triton College in spring 2018 and was awarded a $25,000 scholarship to the Illinois Institute of Technology’s school of Architecture, where she will pursue her bachelor’s degree.
Genesis credits Triton’s faculty members, especially Architecture Program coordinator Frances Figg, for inspiring her to pursue her goals and providing the tools and support necessary to succeed academically.
As a student at Triton, Genesis was a member of the architecture club, cheer team and Phi Theta Kappa honor’s society.
“I recommend Triton very much because of how the unites students through clubs and events, and offers so many programs along with the tutoring center and great faculty. I give everything a ten on a 1-10 scale.”
Genesis says designing and building have always been important aspects of her life – due to her father and grandfather both working in the construction industry. After graduation, she plans to start her career as a commercial architect, with aspirations of eventually owning an architecture firm.
